8 week vax, how was your baby afterwards?

Looking for experiences of a baby's first vaccines at 8 weeks and how they were afterwards and over what timescale?

My baby boy's jabs are booked for later this week (mid afternoon appointment) but coincide with my being out for around 3 hours that evening.

I'm not sure whether to either cancel my plans or change his appointment if he's likely to be feeling poorly / unsettled and in need of his Mummy that evening? Or is it more likely to 'kick in' the following day, like my own experience with feeling a bit sketchy the day after a vaccine?

For reference when I go out he'll be at home with DH and plenty of expressed breast milk. He takes a bottle fine.

Thanks in advance

For both of mine it was the same evening that they had symptoms. Usually just a slight temp and lots of crying, although my ds also vomited a bit after one of his. They were better by the following evening.

If I were you I'd move the appt or outing

Thank you @Mumoftwo1316. That's exactly what I was worried about. I'll move things around so I can be with him all day & evening after the jabs.

My little boy was absolutely fine. Slight temp but nothing calpol couldn't cure. He slept a lot, was a little clingy the next day but I think I got quite lucky.

Have his 12 week jabs on Wednesday!

My little boy was fine after his jabs but then poorly the next day, which was a bit of a bugger as DH had taken the afternoon off to help so was back in work for the actual screaming 😱

Thank you. If I can move his appointment to Friday then DH and I will both be there Friday evening and Saturday which sounds like it could be sensible!

I wouldn't risk being out tbh as a breastfeeding mum. Breastfeeding is such a comfort to them and mine was very unsettled the night of the eight week jabs. You may be lucky but it's hard to know!

Thanks all; I've managed to change the vax appointment to the following day, so he'll have me (and DH!) at his beckon call immediately afterwards and over the following days.
