Teething baby won't have a bottle without powders first!

My little one is 5 months old and has been teething pretty bad this past week, although no sign of any teeth coming through yet.

He's had the generic teething symptoms for a couple of months but this week it really ramped up, to the point he was refusing his bottles.

Anyway we've figured the only way we can get him to drink them is to have half a sachet of Ashton and Parsons powder about half an hour before his bottle. Then he seems to drink it no problem. The only bottle he has without anything is his breakfast bottle (assuming the hunger takes over) but he doesn't always finish it. Yesterday I tried a feed without it and couldn't get him to take 4oz whereas all the other feeds he took between 8 and 9oz at each feed.

Has anyone else had a baby like this?

I keep thinking surely he can't go on having the powders before each feed but if it helps him to drink then I will.

Hoping this bout will pass soon as this has been going on since last Wednesday evening now!

I’m not convinced that was teething you were seeing months ago, especially if no teeth are through yet. Teething pain is supposedly much shorter than you’d think: less than a week before a tooth erupts and then ebbs away a couple of days after.

I haven’t used the powders so can’t help there. Like you say hopefully this will pass soon!
