Toddlers big toe nails look weird.

My 2.5 year olds big toe nails have started looking weird over the last few weeks and one looks like its lifting off now, she had hand foot and mouth back at the end of April, could this be an after affect from that? Or could it be a fungal infection? Any advice welcome she isn't bothered by it at all but I'm just wondering if I should get her seen. Thanks

It looks like a fungal infection to me and if so, will need treatment to resolve. It won’t go away on its own

Are they peeling off? Both my son and my husband lost their nails months after having HFM, it happened to a friend when she caught it from her son too. It's weird that it has such a delayed effect on nails.

They look like they are coming away and going to fall off. The doctor did tell me that her nails may fall off or go funny after having HFM but I didn't think it would be months later! Very strange, I'm guessing your son and husbands nails grew back fine?

My friends son’s toenails fell off twice after HFM. All good now though.

Ah thank you, just all part of HFM then. Just gonna wait for them to fall off and grow back
