Big bump to the back of the head

I hope people can put my mind at rest. My poor son fell backwards and his head took a real smack on our wooden floor. He cried but no bump has come up. He had a headache but that went quite quickly. I’m so so worried that it will have caused some terrible damage! Has anyone else had this and their child been absolutely fine!!??

How old is your son? When mine were very little I would call NHS direct and every time they said go to A&E since the script says that. After watching the A&E doctors and nurses we do our our checks at home: if they throw up we go to A&E, we check pupils to make sure they are equal size and react to light by getting smaller, they need to show they aren’t dizzy, they need to spell and do some maths, and they need to show physical coordination.

Thanks. He’s 10 and seems fine. I just feel like I should have take him to A&E but feel like im over reacting since he seems just fine. I’m a real worrier when it comes to the safety of my kids!

Perhaps calling 111 would put your mind at ease? If they say he should be checked then you can take him in.
