Can anyone give their experience of lip scarring?

Hi all, no idea what topic to put this under.

Are there any mum's on here with children who had a lip injury as a baby/young child and able to tell me or show me the progression of the scar?

Or if there are any mums here who injured their lips when young and can tell me what the scar looks like now?

My DD had two injuries to her lips (birth and then as a 9 month old). The scars are looking worse than ever. She is 3.

There was a point around 18 months where they were really quite small and settled....but they seem to be developing really badly with her growth as a child.

I find it very hard to cope with talking about this, but thought a post to seek some clarity on the future development would help prepare me.

A family member had very significant facial injuries as an 18 month year old, requiring a senior surgeon to come back from a family holiday to operate. Lip injuries weren't the worst of the lot, but they were present. Now aged 30, there's only a single line still visible on the temple - all other scars have long since faded and grown out. There were periods when they were more notable and when they weren't, but the long term trend was for them to gradually disappear.

My son has a scar on his lip, repaired by plastic surgery at 6 months old. It was quite visible for the first 6-9 months, but now it's hardly visible. His smile is a bit wonky but he looks fine and you can hardly see the scar. He is 11 now.

I know a girl who had surgery for a hare lip. Now that she.is in her teens you have to look really hard to find a faint trace of a scar. It is marvellous what the surgeon achieved for.her.
