After gastro big when should a child be eating again

DS 9 was feeling nauseous Tuesday and Wednesday then vomiting yesterday. He says he's feeling better now but he's not up to eating at all. He's had less than half a sandwich and half a yoghurt in the last 2/3 days. He is drinking ok so I'm not worried about dehydration.
Problem is he's a skinny kid anyway and now he's looking noticeably gaunt in the face and it's really worrying me. When can I expect him to be eating again? Or if he doesn't when should I worry? Thank you

Following as my DD 12 has had explosive vomiting since Wednesday lunch time (stopped now) but hasn't eaten anything since Wednesday morning

I wouldn't worry for a day or two

My kids have both had horrible tummy bugs the last couple of weeks and it took 3-4 days to get them back eating again. They were really hungry but said everything tasted horrible. (They are fussy at the best of times so v limited options!) back to normal now though

I think you need to be guided by them. Maybe get some dioealyte or isotonic lucozade and get them to drink this to replace salts etc.

However, you could try offering small, plain food - toast, jam on toast, crackers, ginger nut biscuits, scrambled egg etc.

Thanks all. I just got him to eat a few strawberries. And I've said we can have whatever he wants for tea but he can't think of anything at the moment. I'm thinking maybe veggie sushi might go down well? He has tried to eat a couple of times but it just makes him feel sick 😕

I really wouldn’t worry about the not eating, not becoming dehydrated is the important thing. Ice lollies are good. Appetite will come back. Try plain food like toast.

I couldn’t think of anything worse than sushi if I had a stomach bug.
