Toddler picking 'spots' leaving open wounds for months

DC gets the odd spots in the face from something in the diet (I assume), it's not many but then proceeds to pick them and scratch them and they bleed constantly. The bedding is covered in blood, clothes are stained red. I'm at my wits end, I obviously can't tell DC to stop doing it - at 2 years old they just doesn't understand.

Is there any sort of cream that will speed up/help the healing process? I'm so worried there'll be scars for life now as it's gone on for months and months and months...

Have you tried diverting their attention to something else to occupy their hands?

Yes, no luck with that, but it's mostly at night anyway and we wake up to a bed full of blood!

I would discuss with the GP. There may be a skin condition underlying it or not but would be useful to get some advice and possibly cream if it is due to itchy skin for some reason
