To give my 9 month old DD antibiotics or not?

DD has been pulling at her ear for 2 weeks, she's fine in herself no fever etc but took her to GP just to be sure, she said it's full of runny wax so she can't get a clear view of the ear drum to see if it's an infection.

She issued some antibiotics but told me to only collect them if she develops a fever or screaming in pain whilst pulling her ear.

It's a week on and she's still pulling the ear constantly and whinging. She's not screaming and she doesn't have a temperature but I don't know what to do in this situation? FTM, I know that antibiotics aren't great to take if you don't truly need them.

Help!

why not just follow the clear advice from GP?

Is it teething? If not you’ve left it a week, it’s not got better and she’s whinging. Take them.

Dc never had a temp with an ear infection but the build up was massively uncomfortable and can end in a burst eardrum.

Because I know my baby and I know that the constant ear pulling and whinging isn't her usual self and as the GP couldn't clearly see if there is an infection due to lots of ear wax, for all we know she could have one. It's been going on for a while now.

She doesn't have any other teething symptoms like she did when she cut the bottom two. So hard to know what to do for the best. I have a burst ear drum from an untreated infection and it was very painful.
