Leg pain in 8 year old

Hello
8 year old boy has been complaining of leg pain in right leg. Located around shin. He hasn't banged it, bent it or anything. No bruise, isn't swollen red or hot! He is however complaining of pain and refusing to walk on it! Do you think this warrants a 111 call? Or just rest until Monday when I can get a gp call?

Hi Op, how long has he been complaining of leg pain for? Is it just the one leg? Is it during the night? It could be growing pains but I would get a GP to check him over if it persists, especially if he starts limping / refusing to walk on it.

potentially growing pains like osgood schlatters if having a growth spurt.

My son gets the same kind of thing and I spend hour rubbing it or applying heat. I keep being told its growing pain . I was also told to give him more bananas to help.
Each kid is different so just have to see how he feels is all you cam do.
