My 4yo dd has been sick every evening apart from Friday since Tuesday does anyone no what this could be took her to go which suggested reflux? But she won’t take the gaviscon as that makes her heave so defeats the object got so worried took her to a&e last night they said obs were fine and sent us on our way pretty much.. just wondering if it could be anxiety/excitment due to the lead up for Christmas she is fine before and after being sick no pain or temp I remember when I was a child I use to be sick every year before my school Christmas party just wondering if anyone’s child has had anything like this as I’m worrying myself sick

Is your dc constipated op...I've heard constipation can cause vomiting sometimes

Worriedmumma92 · 27/12/2023 19:36

No she has been opening her bowels fine until the last 2 days which I assume is because she hasn’t had enough in her system

My son was prescribed for reflux at 4 month old so is available for children Thankyou if things don’t improve I will ask gp

Does the vomitting seem effortless, different from a sickness bug with no abdominal pain or cramping? Any dizziness, balance, tiredness/irritability, headache or eyesight issues?

anothernamechangeagainsndagain · 27/12/2023 19:42

When my dd did this as a little one it turned out to be certain sweets, cakes and treats - just one ingredient but makes her vomit 2-3 hours later, still does 22 years later if she messes up (not more serious thankfully)

Constipation, when they are impacted the food has nowhere to go, so comes up. She may still have overflow coming around the blockage making it look as though she is going everyday.

Worriedmumma92 · 27/12/2023 20:09

She cry’s just before she is sick so obviously feels nauseous but she isn’t complaining of anything

She has got a bit of a snotty nose but was sick twice last night I’m hoping it’s the excitement of Christmas and things will start to improve done the worst thing by googling and now thinking the worst 😩

I know this seems to be the standard response on MN and I'm genuinely not trying to sound flippant (though I know it will come across that way)...but do you have healthy anxiety? Sickness once a day for less than a week does not warrant an A&E visit...and

HotChocolateWithCointreau · 27/12/2023 21:29

Sorry posted too soon.

It sounds like a very typical lingering bug unless there are other symptoms.

Or could be cyclical vomiting syndrome.

WolfFoxHare · 27/12/2023 21:33

Any headaches? Loss of balance? Anything like that?

This is exactly what dd was like. 2 weeks ago and on Christmas Eve. She’s had a lingering cold for 5 weeks, so either she’s had back to back illnesses of it’s another medical problem.

I don’t understand the point of your comment im concerned about my 4 year old child and you have come here to tell me when I should or shouldn’t take my child to the hospital when there are no doctors open over the Christmas period I took her to the hospital which may I add I work at also comments like yours can stop a mother getting a very poorly child seen to because they are worried about what people like you will say in future I suggest you scroll on

But that was my point - being sick once a day for less than a week (unless there are other worrying symptoms) does not constitute a very poorly child!!!

I'm not suggesting not getting advice, but 111 first would likely have been a much more appropriate first step.

I wish you and your DC well.

HotChocolateWithCointreau · 28/12/2023 09:16

And you did say yourself that she is fine before and after being sick. Therefore not an accident or an emergency.

whereaw · 28/12/2023 09:22

As well as plain food (things like banana, toast, rice, ginger biscuits) you could also try to drink most in the morning and afternoon and not have a tummy full of liquids before bedtime, which might churn up and make her sick when lying down. My daughter had this same thing twice now, I think she just had an aggravated/ sensitive tummy after a sickness bug and lying down at night seemed to make her sick.

Electrolyte imbalance? My DD had something similar at a similar age, following a cold bug. She was sick every evening after dinner, but fine rest of the time
Try coca cola (original full sugar) and see if things improve.

Thankyou so much for commenting so she had a bout of back to back viral illnesses and some fluid on the lung which she had antibiotics for when you suggested electrolytes I tried lucozade sport Christmas Day and we had no sickness that day but Boxing Day sickness returned so yesterday and today I have let her have a lucozade sport again yesterday she still looked pasty and had little appetite but today she seems to have picked up and had no vomit since yesterday I really appreciate you taking the time to comment as I wouldn’t of even considered this so praying this was the problem
