11 month old seems to have had a cough for 2 months.

So I will start off by saying I do have a 4 year old who brings EVERYYYY illness imaginable home with him from school so we are just all always ill this time of year.

But what’s worrying me is the 11 month old started with a cough mid October time, had antibiotics and it cleared.. a week later it came back, we figured because he spat some antibiotics out/sicked some back up due to coughing so much that maybe they didn’t work properly and doctor agreed and put him back on antibiotics. This time he went 2 weeks without a cough and we were also proper on it with making sure he spat none out, that he wasn’t sick and we made sure he had every last drop from the bottle. About 8/9 days later and the cough seems to be coming back alongside yet another runny nose again.

Has anybody had any experience with this with their children? I don’t know where to go from here as I’m aware he can’t just stay on antibiotics? Doctor has said each time it’s sounded like a chest infection so it genuinely worries me every time I hear him start to cough again. It’s not bad atm but I’m terrified it will be. He has popped out 2 teeth that seems to coincide with the runny nose/cough and I think is getting 2 more. Just a coincidence?

Sorry forgot to mention he’s been on 3 lots of antibiotics in the last 2 months since he first started coughing.

My DD was coughing for months after catching something at her nursery. She had several rounds of antibiotics, then GP said she had croup, then chest infection.... in the end she got an inhaler from hospital and I kept giving the medicine with it for another week or so but she was still coughing until it just went away.

@Olika So pleased to hear it just went away eventually! Did it get better with the rounds of antibiotics each time? It seems they work for him but then it either comes back or he catches something else! 4 year old is ill every other week this time of year too it’s depressing. We’ve all just had the flu over the last couple of weeks, temps of 39-40 and being unable to get out of bed for days, partner had to take a week off work so he could watch the kids, it’s honestly been miserable.

It was like she was getting better but not fully so something was always lingering and then turning into something else. It was a nightmare. I was so stressed about the damage all those antibiotics and steroids were doing to her. She only started improving and not lingering when I started giving her the medicine from the hospital with inhaler. I have some of that medicine renewed by GP so whenever she has bad cough that sounds unhealthy I give her that.

I have read there us a 100 day cough going around. Could he have that?
