DS with fever and red skin

My DS who is 2 years and 9 months old has a fever for last 3 days. It goes down with nurofen (he doesn't like calpol) but come right back up. It's in the range of 40.4. His wee and poo is normal. He's drinking enough water in fact asking for it.

I've also noticed his skin has become reddish. And occasional itchy here and there. Is there something to look out for ?

Also, if anyone has any suggestions on how to give him medicine. Currently mixing in juice/ yogurt. He refuses and throws out if I give him using syringe.

Desperate mum here !

The skin can go red and feel itchy during a fever as they are sweating more. If its a rash that doesn't fade under glass get to A&E.

Given the fever has lasted for 3 days, I would call 111 so they can help assess. Make sure plenty of liquids or dehydration can happen, particularly for a fever like this. Medication followed up by a drink he likes to wash it down is good. Putting into yoghurt might reduce the benefit. Or say, if you take this you can watch cartoons, have a sweetie...?

Hows his tongue? My eldest son has gad scarlet fever three times this year! Is the rash rough or smooth?

Cartoon is all the bribe we're giving in at the moment. I think his tongue is slightly pale white. Rash (red skin) is smooth. No bumps.

I would call 111 to ask them for help
