Hello! Long time lurker but first post. I wonder if anyone has any advice at all? I'm completely out of ideas and I don't know what to do for the best.
I'll try to keep the post succinct as the issue been going on for so long, but long story short, 2.5 year old has had a recurring problem with spots and itching around scrotum and penis. We've tried a few things and they all seem to work to a point but not for very long! It also seems to cause wee accidents. One of the GPs we saw was pretty confident that the infection can cause irritation that then makes him wee. However, all docs have said something different so who knows!
Here is a little timeline of what's gone on;
30th may - Dr visit - (Spots) advice - it's a Fungal infection, prescribe Timodine
28th July - Dr visit - (red raw, itching) advice- no infection, use E45
11th aug - Dr visit - (spots) advice - not fungal - it's blocked ducts, use sudocream
2nd sept - OOO GP - culmination of itching for a while...more and more wee accidents and then culminated in painful weeing on the Friday / serious withholding on saturday morning and distress to wee....diagnosed with phimosis.../ Prescribed Canestan (confirmed no UTI)
18th Oct - private consultant (pead urologist - obvious issue here being that we had to wait for appt by which time all looked hunky dory) / no problem / no phimosis issues.... Stop all creams. Was brushed off re continual itching. Not interested in the ongoing problem.
16th Nov - Dr visit - (spots) Doctors appt / Antibiotic cream, fucidin. If that doesn't work, try broad oral anti biotics. .
Now, we are falling back into dry skin / itching and lots of wee accidents again.
In summary (as I've thought about this a lot! Trying to see patterns etc).....I have feeling that he has had infection that has been treated on the skin but something internal has lingered and that's why it keeps on coming back. He is not in nappies and has generally great hygiene. At the last appt, doc said we can try AB cream and if it doesn't work we can try full OBs. It's literally the only thing we haven't tried and it's really my last hope but I'm almost dreading trying it in case it doesn't work as I've got nothing left to try!
Has anyone please been though similar?? It's not balanatis. I toyed with Excema but that doesn't explain the spots. The fungal creams seem to sort but it keeps coming back. If not the spots returning, then the itchyness.
Begging for help or suggestions or anything I can suggest to docs! Otherwise looks like will be ABs phonecall tomorrow.
Thanks so much in advance!
