Chicken Pox Exposure after 1 dose or vaccine

My DC had the first dose of the chicken pox vaccine on the 6th of November. On Tuesday this week we spent the day with my cousin and today her little one has come out in spots.

Just wondering about people’s experiences of chicken pox exposure after one vaccine dose?

3 weeks after a vaccine you should have decent coverage from the vaccine. It takes the body about 7-10 days to find a virus/bacteria etc and then build the relevant antibodies. I would say there's a good chance they will be covered.

Is the second vaccine at 3-4 that will be there to boost the effect of the 1st as it might wane over time so they get a booster before school. Similar to the mmr vaccine given at 1 and 3y4m. You have coverage after 1 but longer term coverage comes from having it twice.
