Does anyone have any experience with Herpangina.
This is a virus very similar to hand foot and mouth but without the hand and foot..
My son has been unwell for three days. It started with a very high temperature and then I noticed pinprick red dots on his palate and tongue. I immediately thought strep and got him seen by a doctor ASAP. No doctor could diagnose strep for sure as his tonsils and throat weren't too inflamed, so we were advised to hold off on antibiotics as he'd had a course the week before for a chest infection.
Today, he's feeling better his temperature is back to normal but still seems a little tired.
The red pinprick dots in his mouth now look more like blisters, and have spread onto his lips and around his mouth.
From these symptoms, Google has come up with Herpangina - which I've never heard of.
Any info greatly appreciated.
I've attached a few pics below of his mouth.
The first one was how it looked initially and the other two are from this morning.
Thanks!
