Swelling like lump on 4 month olds face

Noticed yesterday that DS has a lump on the right side of his face in front of his ear. I say lump, it's just like a patch of swelling. I really only noticed it as the skin had become a bit dry & with a few little scabby bits on, like very mild eczema. I went to the Doctors & they said they didn't know but just to keep an eye on it. DS has had Bronchiolitis & coughs & colds the last month or more but no temperatures, eating loads, he's a chunky baby etc. Could this be a swollen gland? Any experience welcome. Also it doesn't seem to bother DS if you touch it. Doctor reckons the actual scabby rash type thing I first noticed is a separate issue, nothing to do with the swelling. Which I personally find odd as neither are anywhere else on his body.

If the dr said to just keep an eye on it I’d wait a week and if it’s not gone down a bit or has increased in size at all I’d take him back to the Gp. Obviously take in him sooner if you notice any worrying symptoms like a fever.

@GwenGhost Thank you. I'm just full of anxiety towards him as he had viral meningitis when he was born & anything like this just sends me spiralling a bit.

Oh gosh, yes I can see how that would make you very anxious about any possible facial swelling. You did the right thing taking him straight to the dr. Don’t be afraid to take him back if anything changes. They’d much rather see 100 babies and have it turn out to be nothing rather than miss the one time it isn’t nothing. Hopefully it’s gone down a bit today and you’re feeling reassured.

@GwenGhost Sadly still there. Wouldn't say it's any worse but also not any better. It's so strange.
