Baby rash & reaction to hydrocortisone

My baby girl (14 month old) had a few spots round her hair line from ear to ear, doctor asked me to email pics which I did and they prescribed hydrocortisone cream to apply to the spot, which I did but obviously irritated her so she rubbed n rubbed, it went bright red but then I noticed a lump just behind her ear. Am sure I would of noticed b4 applying the cream but I didn't until the rest of the area went bright red, that stayed skin colour I put her back in a bath and washed it off. The lumps still there but she's not red now. Could this be a reaction? I will add pics of when she was in a bath ( obv not full pics) but of the reaction and lump? It says online that the cream can cause redness but I couldn't leave her like that plus a lump?

I would contact the Dr again about that tomorrow, based on DDs reaction hydrocortisone can sting a little on broken skin but she's never come up with a lump so I'd think that that is something other than a simple rash/eczema and may need a different treatment. I think it probably isn't a direct reaction to the hydrocortisone and may just be a progression of whatever caused the rash/spots in the first place, so worth checking that the treatment you have is the most suitable.

Has she got the spots anywhere else? Wondering if maybe chicken pox/virus and the lump is a lymph node?

Thank you. I never noticed the lump b4 but I wasn't looking if that make sense, but when doing her hair etc am sure ad of noticed am stressed out incase something serious but it's just appeared. My son now 13 used that cream years ago as a baby n he never took a reaction but she just went bright red! And then this big lump... this was the pic I sent the doctor and can't see a lump then

It's the right position and appearance to be a swollen lymph node which happens for lots of reasons, but it's more suggestive of a virus than a skin condition which is why I'd want to just ask whether hydrocortisone is the right thing. If it is a virus then it would usually be paracetamol/ibuprofen lots of fluids and rest, but best to get a proper medical opinion.

Hi OP, how is your DD, was the GP able to help?

Changed cream, and said it's a viral infection and the lump is just swollen glands if she gets a temp/fever etc to take her to hospital but it should start to clear up fingers crossed xx
