Can't get rid of son's fungal infection

My 4 year old son started getting an itchy bum around the end of July and we thought maybe it was threadworms so we treated the whole family but that didn't seem to help him. We brought him to the GP who said it was a fungal infection and prescribed Canestan. He only got worse that week so we brought him back and the doctor then prescribed Travocort cream. It improved but it is still not gone away and he developed a fissure, he then became constipated (I think he was holding cos it hurt) and the doctor has given him Movicol for that. The pain and itchiness has definitely improved but his bum is still quite red and the fungal infection still isn't fully gone after a couple of weeks of treatment. I feel really awful for him and just want him to be okay. Has anyone else dealt with this and what helped get rid of it in the end?

Hi I was just wondering if you had any resolution to this? I've posted a similar ISH thread and this popped up!

Yeah so we’ve been using Fucidin cream on and off, when it reappears and also lots of moisturiser, he is also still using Movicol. It looks much better now but we have to keep on top of it. The doctor said it’s very common at his age especially as he is still in pull ups so hopefully with age it will disappear entirely. I hope you get sorted, it’s very distressing.
