I have a 10 year old DS - since I can remember he has suffered with his tummy. He is often in a lot of pain with his stomach, he struggles to poo and when he does they’re huge and is regularly physically sick. We are under a paediatric consultant now as he was hospitalised last October with severe sickness and ended up on IV antibiotics as his infection markers were through the roof. As per no answer came out of it but it did get us a referral to the constipation team.
he is on 4 laxido pouches a day and these do tend to help him poo a lot more frequently (once every 2 days and he seems ok with this) however he still suffers . He has been away on a residential the last two days with school and he has been physically sick both mornings a number of times. The staff at the residential wanted to send him home but thankfully his teachers are fab and are aware this is typical behaviour and so kept him there.
his stomach is beyond swollen in the evenings - he honestly looks 6 months pregnant! He is also carrying weight the last year around his tummy - he is not overweight according to the doctor however he has def put a fair bit on the last year - this is with no change to his diet / exercise levels (he is very active and eats - balanced diet).
I am coeliac and have had his bloods done for this 4 times now and they are adamant he is not coeliac. Is there anything anyone can suggest? It is a lot worse with nerves / out of routine which makes me think poss IBS but it seems extreme to be physically sick? Any suggestions welcome 🤦♀️ Thanks
