Health visitor genital exam?

When my son was around 4 months old the health visitor was weighing him and getting his height etc and she also took his nappy off and checked his penis I'm just wondering is this normal and why she did this? Thanks

What do you mean "checked" ? Boys testis are checked routinely at birth and 6 weeks.

Surely the nappy was already off to check his weight?

I mean checked as in moving his testicles to the side etc to look at them he had it done by a midwife when he was around 1 week old I just didn't know if it was part of a health visitors job.

Checking for nappy rash etc?

Probably checking to make sure his testicles had descended. If you’re not sure on something in the future you should ask them what they are doing and why.

I don't remember which appointments, but my ds was checked for this at hospital at birth and then 2 other times for testicles being descended before he was 1, I assume they just double check. No one man handled his penis or did anything that looked dodgy to me, it took seconds. I think the gp did it during his 6 week appointment?

I think it's normal to check the testicles, didn't you ask why?

Health visitor never examined my child’s genitals, only GP at 8 weeks appointment and at birth in the hospital. Last HV appointment (16 weeks old) the health visitor only checked weight, height and asked us different questions.
