Hi everyone little one has these episodes of being unwell, mainly bronchiolitis and is told to go to a&e
on two occasions now the walk in centre have said his heart rate is high at 179. The first time we were sent to a&e because of this.

today his heart rate was the same but because he presented well in himself they weren’t overly concerned. Does anyone else’s little one have a faster heart rate. Is this normal? What would you do?
thankyou

The upper limit for resting heart rate at that age is 160bpm, so if he was sitting up, moving, crying, babbling, etc., it may not have been much high at all at 179bpm. If they were worried, they'd investigate it.

I know nothing of baby heart rates but all the women in my family have low BP and high pulse. My resting heart rate is 95-110 which freaks out doctors. I had an inner ear infection once and my resting heart rate was 160! I had quite a few tests but they found nothing and it went with the ear infection.
Normal is broad and there will always be someone on the edge of normal at the top and the bottom.

Do push every time it's raised and they might start to do further investigations. My daughter has other issues but it's only with them being seen repeatedly with no changes that we are getting more analysis (or at least hopefully)

Hello, I know this is an old thread but just wondering if anything came of this with your little one? I have the same with my 6 month old. At 10 weeks had bronchiolitis and heart rate was up to 200. ECG and xray all fine but at some appointments now his heart rate is often 160-170. Just wondering if all is ok with your boy? Thanks xx
