Low grad fever for 3 days- looking after child

hoping for some
perspectives!
I am looking after my nephew (6) this week while his parents are on their honeymoon. He’s been running a low grade fever for last 3 days- 37.7 highest. He’s ok in himself but a bit weepy and clingy on and off which isn’t like him and which stops when he’s had calpol and his temp drops
to 36.4
Eating and drinking and sleeping fine.
my sister is very chilled (unlike me) and said she’s ok for him to wait till she’s home at the weekend unless he worsens.
i just don’t like the idea of not getting him checked over while he’s under my
care in case it is something that needs antibiotics. He’s not complaining of any pain, and I can’t see any signs of infection (no cough /
cold/ pain urinating
etc) so if it was you would you just keep up with calpol as needed unless he worsens? (In Which case I’d obviously take him to local Gp here)
Thank you!

Calpol, fluids and rest. You need to give his body the chance to fight things off. Of course if he starts going downhill rapidly then contact GP or 111(?).

I'd offer Calpol if there was pain but not to treat a temperature of 37.7, the point of the body raising its temperature is to kill whatever it is that's causing the fever.

Thanks!
i only offered him calpol as he was so clingy and weepy and just not like himself and he perked right
up once it worked. He has been quite busy here with his cousins so I’ll have a quiet early bedtime i think and a home
day tomorrow with lots of fluids and movies. Thank you 🌼

so he’s now
38.5 and says his throat hurts, normally I’d not be worried but he recently
had bad tonsillitis so my anxious brain is now worried it’s back - this can wait for tomorrow right? He’s in bed not sleeping but watching some
tv and has eaten some
dinner…..

If he's eating and drinking tomorrow will be fine, hope he feels better soon.
