My son is 5, he has always suffered from the odd tummyache which is usually settled after he does a poo, or if I rub his tummy a bit and he passes wind. I’ve noticed recently this has been happening more often and usually results in a couple of very smelly/messy poos and then he is all ok again.

he eats a really good varied diet has a healthy appetite and no constipation or diarrhea.

Should I take him to the GP or is 3 tummyaches a week considered normal? I can’t seem to link it to any particular foods.

Possibly coeliac? Does he have mucus in his poo? That’s how it started with my DD following a bug which triggered the coeliac. My DS is also coeliac and I remember, before he was diagnosed, he had a month of tummy aches every day. I took him to the docs and they thought it was likely an enlarged lymph node in his tummy caused by a virus. I think I would pop to the GP and see if a blood test to rule out a bowel issue would help

I can’t see any mucus, my other son has cmpa and had mucus so I would recognise it immediately. His poos are very fuzzy looking though, if that makes sense!

I would definitely ask the GP for a blood test to check for coeliac and to make sure all if OK. I know what you mean about “fuzzy” poos - my DD was the same! She was initially diagnosed with toddler diarrhoea as she had tummy aches and awful poos for months and months before the blood test revealed coeliac disease.
