I told my babies dad to get her dummy from the car chair but he instead got the dummt that I had been meaning to throw away and it had been sitting on the back seat of the car for about 3 weeks! My baby is only nearly 12 weeks! She had be suckling on it for a couple of hours before I noticed!

I’m sure she’ll be fine.

pepperminticecream · 31/07/2023 22:26

What are you worried about?

Nanof8 · 31/07/2023 22:27

Won't hurt her.
By the time she's in school she'll have ate, and/or tasted far worse things.

LoveBluey · 31/07/2023 22:29

What would be wrong with it? I'm sure it won't be harmful at all.

Lollibert · 31/07/2023 22:29

@pepperminticecream her getting sick from germs ! I only give her sterilised dummy’s :(

She’ll be absolutely fine don’t worry.

You sound very anxious OP...and I mean this kindly...please just take a breath! Your baby will be fine!

LittleBearPad · 31/07/2023 22:38

In a few months time you pick it up off the floor, suck it and hand it back to her.

It’ll be fine

whatabeautifulwedding · 31/07/2023 22:40

Absolute WORST case scenario would be if someone had vomited in your car and the dummy had fallen into it. Then sat for three weeks (after which time the germs would probably have gone), but if they hadn't and your baby ingested it she might be sick?
But I'd say that's probably one in a million chance.

Babies need a few germs to build up their immune systems.

Your baby will be completely fine! I remember being similar when I had my first and would sterilise everything constantly. But, it's really not needed. Now, with my 2nd, I sterilise the dummy for the first use and after that I just wash with water and soap. Your baby is not going to get from the dummy in the car.

WandaWonder · 01/08/2023 05:04

Can you imagine the stuff babies eat off the floor? You can't sterilise their entire life

MrsTerryPratchett · 01/08/2023 05:09

If it's been in a hot car, dry for three weeks, what germs do you think are still alive?

Unless it's been rolling around on the car floor.

Emmacb82 · 01/08/2023 05:12

The amount of parents that suck the dirt off a dummy when it’s been dropped on the floor and given it straight back to the baby - I think I’d rather risk 3 weeks in the back of a car! Don’t worry, it will be fine
