10 week old and Covid. Reassure me

I've been feeling unwell for a couple of days but foolishly only just tested and am positive for Covid. Am now panicking about my 10 week old. I know they say babies only get it mildly but he's still so young and vulnerable.

He only has a very slight sniffle and occasional cough but it has sounded quite dramatic on occasion. His poo has been runny the past few days. I've taken his temperature a few times but it has always been normal.

I'm too scared to go to sleep but I know I should try as he barely sleeps anyway so if I miss my window I'll be up all night.

Any reassuring stories or advice on what to look out for would be gratefully received xxx

Are you breastfeeding? That will pass on antibodies which will help him. Don’t worry if not!

As with any other illness keep an eye out for being hard to wake, listless when awake, any signs of dehydration (sunken fontanelle, no tears when crying, no wet nappies for 12 hours) and if he has a high temp/can’t be settled with a high pitched cry.

In all likelihood he will be fine. It is horrible when they’re so small though, so if you feel at any point you want him seen just give 111 a call/take him to the gp. No one will be annoyed at seeing a little baby.

@Ostryga thank you. He seems fine apart from a cough. No temperature and otherwise normal. We were meant to have a health visitor appointment today so I had to cancel that and she said to let the GP know just so they are aware.

Currently trying to get him to nap without being able to take him out in the buggy which is tricky.

I will look out for those things x

Mine had it around that age and coped far better than me & DH. No worse than a cough and cold for her, I remember being terrified though. But honestly it was fine, a couple of unsettled days but they are so much more resilient than they look! Make sure you look after yourself too x

your child should be fine. My best friend’s 8 weeks old little girl just had a covid. Apart from being a bit moany and a slight temperature she recovered within a week without complications.

@NadjaCravensworth1 @JohnnysMama thank you. His test was a resounding positive but the GP said not to worry unless he seems unwell / floppy/ not feeding etc and he is absolutely fine so just waiting for it to pass!
