3 year old woke up screaming his Willy hurt

Sorry I posted in the wrong section..

Hello,

Our nearly 3 year old has been to the toilet for a wee several times today. It doesn't smell, doesn't hurt him to pee, and isn't dark coloured like a UTI. But I would say the amount of times he has been is a bit more than he usually would and he hasn't drunk any more or less.
He also has no temperature and hasn't seemed unsettled at all today.
He just woke up after being aero for three hours and was screaming in pain shaking. and when I asked where it hurt, he held his Willy and balls and was bellowing. He then had a wee and calmed down . What could this be?
Any advice please. Thankyou! Xx

Well all you can do is Calpol, and take him to out of hours over weekend if it does calm down. Poor lad

Push to see the GP/ out of hours.

It's not normal and could be treated with a cream. It ifs left it could get much worse when an op is needed.

TappingTed · 14/07/2023 23:43

I don’t think it needs seen urgently but do think you need an appt to be seen by the Dr as there can be a cream that helps at this stage and avoids the need for circumcision at a later date. Obviously if he gets worse, be seen out of hours over the weekend. But maybe a nice bath and a wee bit of sudocrem tomorrow might help avoid the night time trauma.

@kittycatsmum it's weird because he doesn't have a problem all day. He just wees as normal and there's no pain. But two nights on the trot he's done the same thing- woken up with pain and needed a wee and it goes.
@TappingTed @Mumteedum
Sorry if it's TMI but my husband recently(6years ago) had to have minor surgery on his penis as his foreskin was too tight and it hurt him. I wonder whether our son may have the same thing but earlier in life and it hurts when he NEEDS a wee. It's like in the day he knows he needs it so he goes. But at night he wakes up and needs it desperately so it hurts. I'm not sure but I will book and insist a F2F app on Monday.

Half an hour is a long time to wait to be honest. A good parent would have anticipated this and acted sooner

Not quite the full shilling are you?

ladydimitrescu · 15/07/2023 02:01

@Windercar I'm not the only one who didn't catch your joke it would appear- possibly because it wasn't very clever, or funny. You absolutely are correct about me being tired, though Grin

Blossomandblooms · 15/07/2023 08:22

This is going to sound realllllllly weird - but, he hasn't poked anything down his willy has he? I only say because when my DS was 3, he had exactly the same symptoms. Turns out he had poked my brand new under tongue thermometer down his willy and hurt his urethra! I had no idea as I then used the thermometer on my husband who developed a throat infection 😂

mumtoboys12 · 15/07/2023 10:15

@Blossomandblooms omg 🥲🥲😅 that's horrible poor thing! No I don't think he has poked anything down there but I guess you can never know with a 3 year old!!!

Glad he's feeling better op xx
This happens to my ds sometimes when he his belly is swollen with wind. He doesn't cry but he does slap his willy frustrated he can't pee ☹️

Windercar · 15/07/2023 11:44

I’m not being rude it was a bloody joke. That no-one got. Even though it was obvious.

Summergarden · 15/07/2023 11:51

Hope your little DS has been better since.

My DS suffered with something similar, said it hurt too much to pee and was beside himself in pain and distress. Doc did a urine test and found he had a fungal infection. Sent us home with some cream and has been ok since.

The doctor suggested sitting him on the toilet and making him laugh by tickling or telling jokes as that would release his tension and anxiety and help him to pee.

mumtoboys12 · 15/07/2023 23:05

@Summergarden ahhh bless😢 he seems totally fine now, it was just those two occasions. He can wee as normal and isn't in any pain so who knows what it was. It's his third birthday tomorrow ❤️
