Very very dark green poo, 3 year old

Hi all,

I'm taking my son to the doctor on Monday at the latest but I'm just wondering if anyone has any insight or ideas of what could be the cause of my 3 year olds very very dark almost black looking poo?

It's definitely not black as it's dark green upon wiping. He doesn't have diarrhea and sometimes half his poo is normal colour and the other half is this very dark green.

He is fine in himself otherwise, playing, eating drinking. It's been for about a week and a half and it's on an off, not always this green colour. At first I assumed a bug or something he ate but he hasn't eaten anything leafy etc and it hasn't gone away. He did say his tummy hurt yesterday so am now wondering if he needs to be seen today? He hasn't mentioned it today, even if I ask him.

He does have an allergy to peanuts/nuts and was allergic to milk protein as a baby.

Thanks for any words of wisdom.

Has he eaten anything with blue food colouring in? Birthday cake? Cupcakes? Bubblegum icecream?

Blueberries!

Absolutely nothing no. It's really strange.

Blue / purple food / food colouring might be the culprit

Also iron supplements can do that too, if any new vitamins / iron supplements are being taken that might be the reason

He is only on vitamin drops which has always had and it hasn't caused the green poo. Nothing that I know of with food colouring in.
