Quad Helix embedding in roof of the mouth

My 11 year old DD1 got quad helix placed on Friday afternoon. She's doing really well with it, she's been having some ibuprofen and doing salt water rinses but this morning she complained the wire right behind her front teeth is really digging in. I looked in her mouth and it looks like it's beginning to embed itself in the tissue. I am not going to like I freaked out a bit. I've no experience whatsoever with orthodontic appliances so not sure if this is normal and perhaps just swelling or shall I call the orthodontist? I've been googling quad helix complications but not finding much about this particular issue.

Hi. This happens a lot ( ortho dental nurse here)
You need to go back to the dentist or consultant that did the procedure and see if they can ease it for her.

As orthodontics work in growth spurts in children, the last thing you want to happen is for the skin to grow over it and have to be surgically removed ( sorry!).

Good luck Flowers

Thank you so much, we have appointment tomorrow morning😊it's uncharted territory for me, I never had any work done on my teeth and she's my eldest.

Hi, what happens if the skin on the roof of her mouth grows over? Will the surgery hurt and take long to heal? My daughter is having the same issue but it seems to look like it is quite deeply inbedded and she is very worried of having surgery. Thank you.
