4 Month old couldn’t swallow Rotavirus vaccine

Hi all,

This is the second time we have tried to give my now 4 month old her second round of the rotavirus vaccine and both times she has projectile vomited it back out! She struggles to swallow it, gags and then back out it comes! Nurse said she hasn’t seen that much sick from it before… any one else have this experience or should I be getting my daughter checked for swallowing issues?!
TIA!

How is she feeding? Breast/bottle? My daughter had swallow issues as an infant but this was evident from her inability to take breast or bottle effectively. Do consult an expert if possible (the expert is a specialist speech and language therapist (salt) called a dysphagia salt. Some warning signs include: chest infections, eyes water when feeding, gulping noise when feeding (not just a calm swallow noise). Can't think of more right now but will have a think of helpful.

Thank you 😊 She is breastfed and mostly seems to feed fine, I have quite a fast flow so this sometimes results in a lot of sick, but have always put that down to her not being able to keep up with the flow. But I will definitely get it checked. Thank so much!

I wouldn't be worried about swallowing issues if she is 4 months old and putting on weight etc..... she has probably been sick as it tastes foul! No other reason. Is the nurse pushing it in quick? She needs to drip, drip it slowly so they aren't swallowing quickly.

Makes complete sense! We have to try again so will make sure she gives it her very slowly!
Thanks 😊
