Fever several times a month- out of my depth

My 8 year old seems to catch every passing virus giving him fevers, chills, colds, coughs and headaches. In the past two months he caught 4 different viruses and has been off school for three weeks in total! Its almost as if he is well for a week and unwell the next- a repeating cycle. Over the past 6 months he had about 10 episodes of being sick, missing school for about a week each time as he gets really unwell. We've gone to about 4 different doctors who say 'its viral, take paracetamol, there's nothing wrong with him'. But temperatures rise to about 104 F and two weeks ago he had a febrile convulsion- the second in his lifetime with the first when he was around 1 year old.

His BMI is normal, he has no other health issues apart from slight wheeziness when he gets a chesty cough but doctors have not diagnosed asthma. He eats a healthy diet. No history of any medical problems apart from the fact that he gets poorly quite often. He is allergic to dust and mold and I know this triggers a cough and then fever so I'm very careful.

He has missed so much school I'm really worried. And yes, he has high fever now and is off-school since yesterday. Dry cough, body aches and doctor says its viral.

Any advise?

Ds1 caught every chest based virus around, always had a temp and they always lasted forever. He was diagnosed with asthma at 10. If everything goes to his chest and there is wheezing I'd say at least that needs to be taken more seriously by the doctor. Though I assume he has an inhaler based on the dust causing a cough?

This is my child currently fever every few days. School have told us to send with fever due to low attendance.
Child is well for a few days and then I'll again for a few days. I'm worried what is going on. GP insists just viral and lots of kids getting ill regularly. But it is a nightmare to manage as school not happy about absence, it hugely impacts my job too.

Probably not relevant, but when my son was a toddler he had a fever every two weeks, it would always turn into an ear infection, he'd have medicine, a few weeks later it would be the same. Eventually he saw an ENT consultant who said it was his adenoids triggering it every time, had them whipped out, was never ill at that rate again. You need a doctor who is willing to look for an underlying cause. Good luck.

@dazdaz2 @Whatevercanbedone did this ever settle? My son is getting constant temperatures and I'm wondering if this is something worse like leukemia or just normal toddler bugs - he is 22 months
