Just wondering what this is likely
to be?
Dd6 fine
all day, suddenly went quiet this evening refusing dinner (unheard of!) and said her back and legs hurt and I felt her and she was burning up. Have given calpol and hope temp drops soon.
She’s coughing in bed and said throat is sore, I’ve had a look and it looks ok (no pus or red tonsils)
im a single mum and massively worry when my kids are I’ll, really because I’m on my own and it’s hard with work and time off alone. obviously no one can say for sure what it is but I’m just keen to hear what you think it’s likely
to be?
Just a bad cold? Or chicken pox and covid both doing wild rounds at school.

thank you - just need a handhold tonight! X

It could just be a cold but Covid is a strong possibility, there is still a lot of it about.

I'm the same when mine is poorly, so hand hold for you. I find Neurofen is much better at bringing temps down but that may just be my DD. Hopefully you have a half decent night xx

Thank you so much.
hate being on my
own when one is poorly 😢
Normally only nurofen works with her but to my surprise calpol has brought it down to 36.7 and she’s sleeping peacefully for now. I’ll covid test in morning and give her. A duvet day at home I think xx

Bumping for any advice!
so today’s not been great, she’s refusing all food and says throat and head
are sore. She’ll also full of wind, she’s sitting at 39.1 but refusing all calpol 🤦‍♀️I’m 99% sure a dr will say just viral so it’s pointless trying to get an appt. is this just a wait it out viral thing do you think?
covid test negative.
just hate high temps and a sore head and not knowing what it is☹️

Is she drinking @wobblymum1 ?

Over Xmas my daughter had the flu & had a temp that was between 38.8 & 39.9 for 5 days straight. Barely ate but was drinking, not confused, no rash, etc so I personally decided to treat from home. But you know your child.

wobblymum1 · 04/05/2023 20:07

It does feel flu like.
aches, headache when temp high, just wants to lie watching tv and barely
eating. I’m pushing fluids and no rash, not confused just not herself. I’m sorry your one was poorly over Xmas ☹️How did you know it was flu? Just by symptoms?

@wobblymum1 My OH had it the week before, so came to that conclusion. Not saying your DD has it, it may just be a virus. Hopefully the temp will break soon. Just keep her fluids up, make sure she's weeing, also I'm sure you've already looked but I find the NHS website very handy for advice, & the Handi Paediatric app too.

wobblymum1 · 04/05/2023 20:12

Oh not heard of that, I’ll look it up. Thank you so much. she’s picking at some
food now and I’m hoping she’ll settle after some
calpol and rest. Fingers crossed x
