Lumps in 18 month olds neck

I noticed a lump in my DDs neck a few months ago but she was unwell constantly with colds etc so I put it down to being a lymph node due to infection as my son had the same at her age. However recently I noticed it was still there along with a few more in the same area, only on the left side of the neck. I took her to the GP on Monday she said it's lymph nodes and probably nothing to worry about but because she can feel a few and theres no sign of infection she's ordered bloods for the next day and a referral to pediatrics, letter came through today and her appointment is next wed. I'm worried sick I feel like the GP must be concerned to have everything done so quickly? Anyone else had this with their child if so what was it? Thanks. X

Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

Hi OP, try not to worry. It's really good that your GP is on the ball. I've been in your position several times with both my DC (swollen nodes after x amount of weeks / months without going down) and all was fine. They do tend to hurry things through with children so I really wouldn't try to worry. If they were really concerned it was something nasty, I'm sure they would've mentioned it to you.

I know it's easier said than done, but try not to worry. Both my DC have had several blood tests / referrals for enlarged nodes and it was often caused by a lingering virus (my DS has very obvious nodes all the time). Best of luck x
