I am worried that my 1 year old DS has cystic fibrosis.

He has dropped 2 centiles since November which was put down to viral illness but he has only just regained the weight he lost then, and now weighs the same as he did then
His height has also dropped 2 centiles
He is coughing a lot, particularly at night time.
And more recently the last day or 2, his skin is slightly salty, which is the biggest concern for me really.

He Is due to be seen at the end of April by a paediatrician for the weight concerns however I’m not sure I feel that this can wait until then? Is this an emergency? Or do I contact the GP? I am so worried about him, and becoming very anxious myself I’m not sure what to do anymore. I’m usually very rational and don’t usually worry like this.

please does anyone have any advice? What would you do? A&E? GP? I could contact paediatrics?

just feel so stressed right now!

Aren't children tested for cystic fibrosis at birth now? Thought it was part of the heel prick tests

If he was born in the UK he would have been screened at birth OP

Yes he was screened at birth however I am aware that you can get late diagnosis and that the screening is not 100%

@saltyskin I know this was a while ago - how did you get on? We've just been referred for similar reasons. Was CF investigated at all for you?
