Anyone know what this weird skin thing is?

Yesterday 3yo DD complained a couple of times that her chin hurt, but it looked fine then - nothing out of the ordinary and not seen her scratching it or anything. This morning, she's woken up with this. It's not quite a rash, not quite a sore, the colour looks like there might be some pus - never seen anything like it. Any guesses what it is? (Trying to get a GP e-consult as well, of course, but often easier said than done).

Impetigo maybe

rewilded · 23/03/2023 08:17

We have had impetigo here. It is spreading like wildfire at the moment.

TheActualDuck · 23/03/2023 08:20

Impetigo, it spreads so easily.

Mateyduck · 23/03/2023 08:22

I was gonna say impetigo. See gp.

LittleRedYoshi · 23/03/2023 08:57

Thanks all. We'd Googled and didn't think it looked like impetigo but having never seen it before, it's so hard to know, so appreciate your experience - thank you. E-consult is in, hopefully we hear back from the GP soon.

Agree on impetigo. My dd had it years ago, aged about five, and it looked like that.

Train007 · 23/03/2023 09:00

Impetigo …needs covering up because it’s very contagious.

Newestname002 · 23/03/2023 11:53

Just adding to the general consensus - it was the first thing I thought of. I had it many years ago. Hope your eConsult/GP session goes well. 🌹

Looks a bit like ringworm. Not an expert, but both my son and I had it on our faces a few years back.

cocksstrideintheevening · 23/03/2023 12:01

Impetigo or ringworm

LittleRedYoshi · 23/03/2023 20:08

GP confirmed impetigo and has prescribed antibiotics. Thank you, wise Mumsnetters!
