My 10yo is normally very stoic about illness (to the point of denial). He was born with some health problems so I do think he gets anxious. On Friday, he stays at school til late. When I picked him up at 6.30 he was asleep. He perked up and Saturday he was just a bit coldy and had a cough. He was definitely under the weather but just had a chilled day. This morning he woke early saying he went to the toilet as he thought he was going to be sick. Then he was ok and just coldy again. This afternoon he complained of tooth ache, got him some calpol- all fine. Then this evening he is suddenly in loads of pain. Said he wanted to go to bed. I went to fetch the medicine and returned to find him in floods of tears complaining about his tooth. Going to try to get him a dental appt tomorrow. Not sure if all these symptoms are connected. Any advice wise mumsnetters?

Could it be a dental abscess?

Could it be a dental abscess?

Would you be able to see anything? And is it right to go to dentist?

You might see some redness on the gum, his breath might smell, he may have a nasty taste in his mouth and it often hurts to eat. Yes, the dentist is the best person to see if it is an abscess.

Definitely right to call his dentist first thing OP. Poor little fella, hope he's feeling better soon
