Anyone had any experience with a toddler with post viral fatigue?

Evening all!

My DS was hit with a nasty bug just over a week ago. All vomiting, temp etc stopped a week today. He is no longer poorly and has been to nursery however he is absolutely shattered all day and is very quiet, still and grumpy. Also his appetite hasn't improved. GP suggested post viral fatigue.

Has anyone else been through this with their kids? He is 19 months old. He doesn't seem to be improving and has been like this for a good week. Just wondering roughly how long something like this lasts. So sad to see him like this 😪

My DD was like this after a sickness bug, it took a good few weeks for her to be back to her normal self. Once her appetite improved that helped a lot as she was getting the energy she needed.

@ForeverTired89 thanks for your reply! I do think that his poor appetite has a lot to do with it. We offer him everything that we can at the moment in the hope he will eat some. Did it take long for your little one to start eating properly again?

A week is really not long at all - my DS definitely has taken a couple of weeks to recover from things in the past especially when his appetite has been affected. So long as he stays hydrated, I try not to worry too much.

We had this (and again recently!!)

Lots of rest! Keep them warm. Lots of sleep.

Post viral fatigue is usually because their tummies haven't quite recovered. Once their tummies are well then it helps the rest of the body recover. We were recommended probiotics for toddlers and it worked amazingly. Back to normal after a few days!
