Child banged head at school now crying with earache

Young child banged head on the floor earlier and had a big bruise above temple. School called as they were concerned so we took child to A & E who weren't too worried as alert and feeling OK. Child is now crying in pain with earache on the same side as the banged head. Given meds and seeing if it helps but worried this isn't a coincidence 😕

I'd call 111 for advice (or just go back to A&E). Could be coincidence but better to be safe than sorry.

agree - call 111. My DD had the same kind of head injury a couple of months back and if she’d have been complaining about earache after it I would have taken her back in. Hope they’re ok! It’s such a worry with a head bang

I'd go straight back to A&E op, sorry 😞

I would Go back to a&e.

I would go back I'm afraid. With skull fractures you can get leakage from the ear so it's a bit coincidental.

Thank you, the meds have definitely helped but I'd rather be safe than sorry

Yes I'd go back. My son had a nasty bang to the head last week (he's fine) but when I called 111 both people I spoke to asked about things to do with ears so I assume its something to look out for. Hope your little one is ok!

How is your little one op?

ChuffKnows · 18/02/2023 13:22

All good now. Thankfully earache wasn't related. Thanks again for your advice and concern 🙂
