something Was telling me to check on my 14 month old an hour after I put him to sleep, he felt red hot and his temp was 40, it’s been 20 mins and is still 39, is this normal?

He’s been a bit up and down the last few days but I’m so sure that’s because of his teeth.

thanks

Just another experience - my one year old had a temperature of 40 at nursery, however his feet/legs were cool. He wasn’t himself at all and they decided to ring an ambulance. He was actually septic and spent a week on HDU. This isn’t to scare you but to tell you that you are not wrong to be concerned and I wouldn’t listen to people telling you to stay away from A&E. it’s a VERY good job mine went when he did.

Check his soft spot for bulging/pulsating as well as this is another indication of sepsis/meningitis. Also keep an eye out for the typical non blanching rash HOWEVER my son DID NOT have this even though he was septic so don’t be tempted to wait for it to appear.

It sounds like you know the symptoms to look out for and you know your baby best!

I second the septic rash.. I was septic and had no rash whatsoever!

Thanks everyone for your response, I ended up speaking to out of hours GP and she kindly sent me to a GP, he wasn’t concerned.

since then he’s been okay, temp has been fine but I think the skin looks mottled worse? Please see photo. Also I noticed a rash around his lower belly that doesn’t seem to disappear with a glass. But I heard the rash is the last stage of meningitis, so thinking surely it can’t be that as he’s not unwell in himself.

Does he still have a temp?

@thaegumathteth no he’s okay, that’s why I’m thinking I’m over worrying now.
