18 month old sleeping a lot - what to do?

Hello,

some background information DD has CMPA and is under the dietician for this. She is being weighed and measure every 2 months. She used to eat well unless we’d had milk and then it would take a while to get back into it. The last time she had milk was September.

At our last weigh in, the health visitor she asked for DD to be reviewed by GP as she is sleeping a lot and quite tired. I feel guilty I hadn’t really noticed/thought about it, as who doesn’t like a sleeping toddler! This has happened and we’re awaiting her dietician to contact us and a paediatrician referral.

Now -
DD is sleeping even more. If I didn’t wake her I don’t think she would. She currently takes herself to be around 7-8pm and would sleep until 11am if I let her. However, no matter what time she wakes she’s ready to sleep again a few (at a push) hours later. If I didn’t wake her, again, I’m sure she’d just sleep right through. Recently she was awake for a total of about 4 hours. Even if we’re busy she’s crying, hitting, biting where she’s so tired, of will cuddle in and fall asleep.

I have no idea what to do. She’s barely eating/drinking enough as we’re waking her to eat or she’s so tired she’s not interested. She also gets very angry when she’s tired and I can’t keep her awake and force her to be like that.

What would you do? What should I be doing? Is this normal? I feel like we’re just waiting for someone to contact us but in the meantime she sleeps even more.

Has the GP done blood tests? I think I would contact the GP and say you are increasingly concerned?

@LovelyDayInnit they’ve referred her to the hospital for bloods, although have said it’s non urgent so we’re in for a wait. Just not sure what to do while we wait. She’s still asleep now.

Everyone says this but my GP surgery are also not the easiest to get hold of too.

@PeanutButterFalcon Sorry for commenting on an old thread but wondering if there was an issue as my 17month has started doing thevsame and also has CMPA. I'm worred he's deficient in something as he doesn't eat dairy. Hope your little one is doing well x
