Hi, my 17 month old sometimes likes to stare at the light bulb when it is on (i think he is intrigued by those glowy spots that you start seeing everywhere after looking at a light bulb)..
I'm just worried if it might affect his sight.. does anyone know if it actually does or not? am i worrying for no reason? I do tell him off when i catch him doing it and he stops at that time.. should i just leave him to it and he would eventually lose interest?

Is it an LED bulb? If so, I would try to discourage him, as they usually have warnings telling you not to look directly at them. Could you find a lampshade that conceals the bulb?

@MissVantaBlack im not sure which one it is because we bought it ages ago now.. i guess you are right about a shade that would cover the whole thing.. it would be the best idea even though it would make the room alittle darker than it is even though the short and dark days in the winter already make me depressed enough😩
I will try and see if i can find one asap.
I was just worrying and feeling guilty over how many times he has done it in the past 🤦‍♀️ i hope it hasnt damaged his sight already

Have a look at any spare light bulbs you have for the light - it should say on the packaging what sort of light it is. Then you could check with your local optician, as they would most likely know if its damaging for your baby. But don't feel guilty: most parents wouldn't even notice or think about something like this, and presumably these light bulbs wouldn't be sold if they caused serious damage.
