3 year old unwell - am I being paranoid?

My 3 year old became unwell over a week ago, he has conjunctivitis and then a temperature. His temperature took a while to get down but eventually came down with nurofen, he continued to be unwell over the weeekend (last week) and I ended up taking him to the urgent GP. GPsais was viral. He has been coughing and had snotty nose etc. Was given antibiotics but it has been a struggle to get them in him.

He seemed to be getting a bit g better, but today he has been sleepy/grumpy although he is eating which he wasn't last week. He seems a bit hot, but not a temperature like last week.

I have Googled and obviously worse case scenario came up so now I am paranoid.

I know there is a lot going around. Myself sd husband son and daughter have all been blocked up with bad coughs etc, but I'm just concerned about him still feeling under the weather

This sounds just like my three year old except without the conjunctivitis. Lethargy, no appetite, low grade fever, snotty nose and cough for a week now.
im assuming it’s just a cold though because of the snotty nose? Is your son constantly tired and grumpy? Mine is in quite high spirits most of the time then seems to worsen in the afternoons. I think if the high temp continues for another couple of days I would be more concerned. Do you know why he was given antibiotics for a virus? What did they think had turned bacterial?
hope they’re both better soon, try not to worry but I think if fever persists another appointment at the docs won’t hurt.

In the morning he is a different person! Running around like a lunatic, just seems come the afternoon he's exhausted.

He only started nursery in September, so I'm assuming he is just catching everything from there

I think the gave the antibiotics incase it did develop into anything worse, but tbh he's not had much as he usually spots most of it out, and if I hide it in a drink he can taste it!

Everything you said sounds like how my youngest (2.5) has been for the last week or so but has cleared up recently. He was off food for 3 or so days. Temp up and down for 5 days though nothing major.. snotty, cough, sleepy some days, had about 2/3 days of conjunctivitis type eyes. And then bam, gone!
We've all had something or another in our house. I have a 7 and 9 year old also and they've had colds and coughs.
If you think he seems to be slowly getting better then roll with it. If you think it's lingered on for too long or he takes a couple of steps back/gets worse then head for another opinion from a GP. If it is viral the antibiotics won't help anyway. I've had to literally hold my boys down to get antibitoics in to them when they've really needed it. X

My three year old had one bug after another and wasn’t his usual self for nearly a month. Tonsillitis, what I think was scarlet fever and snotty nose cold symptoms. I was a bit worried too but he recovered for two weeks. Now he has a mucus cough and a really blocked/snotty nose. My SIL works on a paediatric ward and says it’s already really busy. I think it’s the first winter with no restrictions at all and it’s hit us hard.

Thank you all

He perked up again this evening and ate dinner, so I'm hoping it's jsit him being titer and catching up from being poorly!

Definitely think childrens/ everyones immune systems are in a bit of shock this year!

I sent him to nursery this mornkng and he was very excited to be going back, but now they've rang me to come and collect him as they said he isn't feeling well😢

They've taken his temperature which they said is 37 so Im not to worrier about that, but they said he didn't eat his lunch and he's not his usual self

Freaking out 😢 hoping it's just his body getting over the infection etc but I'm such a worrier

At this point I’d take him to be checked over and make sure there isn’t a lingering bacterial infection.

I actually managed to get him into the doctors, his temperature was 38.6. The doctor managed to look down his throat and can see he has a bad throat infection, and his glands are swollen, they are also checking for urine infection as well! Hopefully he will be on the mend soon 😢
