Fast spreading rash and irritability in my 1 year old

Hi, I have a 1 year old boy and 2 days ago he started vomiting - it seemed like a sickness bug and it only last about 8 hours. But after that he has been very irritable and unsettled, and I noticed a rash yesterday which is raised and in some parts blistered. I took him to the doctors this morning and he said it may be viral but could also be the start of chickenpox (although it doesn’t explain the vomiting). He’s had no fever at all since he was ill.

Since then the rash has got significantly worse, especially on his mouth. See pictures below - he also has them on his arms, legs and bum, and some on his chest.

Just wondering what everyone’s opinion is? The mouth rash looks awful but I’m hoping it’s just chickenpox, he’s still fairly irritable but no fever or other symptoms

Hand foot and mouth

Thanks all, he was really irritable last night so I took him to out of hours just to be safe and the doctor thought it was either HFM, a viral rash or heat rash. Overnight he barely slept again and I’ve realised it must be REALLY itchy for him, when I was lightly scratching his leg he was much more relieved!

This morning his face looks less angry but his legs seem much worse, and inside his bum is also full of the rash must much more blistery. I’ve attached pictures of his legs, does it still seem like HFM? I’ve read that HFM isn’t usually itchy?

I’m going to speak to a chemist today to try to get some relief for him!

Round his mouth looks just like mine when they had HF&M.

HFM is itchy like hell. I had it and didn't sleep for a week. It was horrendous

Hope he gets well soon!

Thanks all :) the pharmacist also agrees that it’s HFM, I got him some Piriton and Calamile lotion and he had a much better sleep, and today seems like his normal self.

Oh definitely! He’s had no temperature so far and none of the other symptoms so we’re ok I think. He’s fine now anyway and the blisters are healing 😊 thanks
