Baby is 16th months old. Just noticed a yellow dot on his finger that's swollen around it and red. He seems fine and not in pain with it. Anyone got any idea what it could be. Plan to head to chemist tomorrow but I'm an anxious person so any ideas would be helpful to my sleep 😂

I think it may be a whitlow. It's some form of herpes. I had one as a baby a long time ago

It could be the start of hand foot and mouth does he have any blisters on his tongue ?

Could be a wart?

DS had something very similar looking recently which turned out to be a wart, even though it didn't look like one to me.

No blisters on mouth. Hadn't thought of hand foot and mouth.will keep checking. Never heard of a whitlow. Will google now. Guess it could be a wart. Thanks for replying FlowersSmile

Looks like a whitlow/nailbed infection. Worth showing it to your pharmacist and if they think it needs medical attention they will advise. You can't be too careful with babies.

It looks like my son's whitlow. It did hurt though and we ended up needing antibiotics.

I think it hurts when he hits it off something as he's been doing random screaming last couple days come to thjnk of it. I've only noticed finger now. Pharmacist can't prescribe antibiotics can they? Wondering do I just try to get doc apt to speed it all up. I can just send them the pic over

just following up on this as I’ve noticed something similar on my baby’s finger. She’s 12 months. I’ve tried to take a pic of it to send to doctor tomorrow but she wouldn’t keep her hand still enough.

We ended up doing nothing and it went away
