Mass on brain 4 month old baby

I don't even know where to start but I took my daughter (4 months) to the GP as she's done this flickering eye roll ever since she was born and they thought it was linked to reflux as did we but they referred us to a paediatrician just to be sure. They did an mri and eeg which showed seizures but found out yesterday that she has a 2cm mass on her brain. I am absolutely devastated and don't know where to go from here. They haven't given an indication as to what they think it is and we are just waiting to hear from them. All I'm thinking is the worst and I can't stop crying. I've been thinking about how I'm going to kill my self when my daughter dies. I feel hopeless and that I don't have the strength to do this. She is my only child and I tried for over 3 years to have her with miscarriages in between. They thought she was missing her cavum during pregnancy so that was traumatic too. I don't know what to do, I can't believe this is happening to us.

Hi Op - that sounds rather reassuring and organised going forward!
Bless your family and your gorgeous baby (who, I have to say, is not only a darling but a very well dressed one! xx)

marvellousmaple · 21/11/2022 23:13

Sounds super positive. Yay for your little girl. Total champion.

NameChangeForARaisin · 21/11/2022 23:16

Cardiff is a renowned centre for neurosurgery. Our friends son got referred there from Northern England as they had the most experience in his condition. He was 7, he is now 24 and thriving.

Thinking of you OP.

alanabennett · 21/11/2022 23:16

That does sound positive!

ZandathePanda · 21/11/2022 23:17

Well done to you all getting through today. It sounds positive.
Xxxxx

PaprikaPlease · 21/11/2022 23:19

That does sound very positive. It sounds like she is in the very best of hands now and things are looking brighter. The not knowing is just awful. Thinking of you and sending a most unmumsnetty virtual hug.

Sitdownnigel · 21/11/2022 23:23

That sounds so reassuring op. I hope you can have a good nights sleep now and be ready to have a lovely day with your gorgeous girl tomorrow. Sending you both loads of love.

Bluekerfuffle · 21/11/2022 23:30

That’s so good to hear. I’m glad they were able to let you know that today and that your lovely girl was back to her cheeky self so soon after the anaesthetic.

Filamumof9 · 21/11/2022 23:34

OP you are amazing - well done for getting though today I can't even begin to imagine how hard it must have been!

It all sounds incredibly positive and whilst we want our babas to be perfect and not have ANYTHING wrong with them, being told they don't think it's cancer is the best news in the world and must have brought you so much relief.

Hope you sleep a little easier tonight ❤️

BraveMaeve · 21/11/2022 23:49

Well that does sound like a very reassuring update, thank you! Yes, it will continue to be horridly worrying, but you have a timeline and know what is happening in between, and a contact!

Well done for being the squeaky wheel, OP. Your little one is very lucky to have such a great mummy.

OldFan · 22/11/2022 00:24

Small update;

First of all can I say I'm completely overwhelmed by everyone's comments. I've been reading them throughout the day and they've kept me going to be honest. Knowing so many people are wishing us well. Thank you for all of the positivity and offers of help along with other people sharing their stories and experiences. I'm so sorry for anyone that's been through something similar, it really has been so terrifying.

She had her MRI today and they put her under. She was surprisingly fine when she came around. She lost her voice a bit but sank a 6oz bottle, had a nap and woke up cheeky as ever. We just got let home now. They said they’ll review the results Friday and have the MDT meeting on Monday and meet with us on the 5th to discuss the plan going forward. They promised to call if there's anything urgent in the meantime. They said it’s not an emergency and they don’t think she has some aggressive form of cancer or anything like that. They said that they certainly won't be rushing to do any surgery that she may not need and want to make sure all of the right people have reviewed this going forward. I have a point of contact now too. That’s all I needed someone to say. Cardiff hospitals doctors actually give you a straight answers to your questions rather than "I don't know it's in someone else's hands now." It is frustrating to wait again but at least I know that the right people are now reviewing this and that we will get some answers soon. I am taking all of this as a positive at the moment

That's good news OP very happy for you! They sound like they've been much more reassuring than the other hospital. It's a waiting game for the results but if they had needed to operate asap you would have been told and that doesn't sound like it's the case at all which is good. Glad your daughter sounds like she got over the effects of the anaesthesia quite quickly, bless her! Do those things you wanted to do, take her to a light show and get some normality back for you all. Wishing you all the very best for when the results come in, stay strong and don't forget to look after yourselves as well as your daughter.😘

BeethovenNinth · 22/11/2022 06:13

So happy to read your update OP and still keeping all crossed from here. Your beautiful girl has a strong mama xx

kateandme · 22/11/2022 06:27

Wow.what a come down you must be going though now.try sitting, taking it all down a notch and taking a few minutes tot breathe you way through the news.let it settle in.
you can do this.step by step.
try not to what if it spiral about what comes next.just Benin the moment.you don’t know anything right now so just carry on the best you can. Soak up all the snuggles you can.let her be as bright and smiley as ever.

QueenMabby · 22/11/2022 07:34

Thank you for taking the time to update op.

I'm so glad you got straightforward answers to your questions and that there's nothing urgent needed at this stage.

I'm sure the wait for the response from the mdt will be hard but it's always good to have a steer and a plan.

Mycatsgoldtooth · 22/11/2022 07:36

So happy you have had some information and your beauty recovered from her MRI well. X

vitahelp · 22/11/2022 07:41

So pleased to see your update this morning. You and your beautiful girl have been on my mind. You should be so proud of persevering for your girl and pushing to be seen, you are a very strong woman. I'm so glad you got the best news you could get at this stage and that you are getting information and there is a plan in place.

Always4Brenner · 22/11/2022 08:16
