What is this on my child's toe (photos)

Child has been complaining about a sore toe for a few days.
It's almost a yellowy patch and feels hard, almost like hard skin you get on your heel. It's not a blister.
Please ignore the crumb wedged by her little toe!!!
I've not seen anything like it before, and don't want to trouble the doctor over it!
Any thoughts?

There could be a splinter or something in there which has formed scar tissue around it rather than becoming infected.

Has she had hand foot and mouth? Also is that just a blister or a verruca on the ball of her foot below that toe?

She's not had hand foot and mouth. The thing underneath is an old verucca that we treated.

Not sure if that's a new verucca starting on her little toe though.

Could she have burnt it?
