Awful cough and breathing every other week

Hi

I have a 15 month old, and without fail every 1/2 weeks she is floored by an awful cough keeping her up half the night, with really fast heavy breathing with intercostal breathing. Her little chest is struggling so much.

We've been to A&E 4/5 times I can't even remember how much, GP won't do much as she was fine when I got the appointment (wanted to talk about the sheer amount of times she is poorly)

She's been bad 2 weeks ago with awful cold and chest. She has been good this week until last night when she has coughed all night, she's had meds, honey & milk/ water. Woke up this morning and she is breathing fast and sucking on again. I've called 111 and waiting for callback to get appointment as A&E never do anything other than keep us in but never give an treatment, blame bronciolitis.

I just don't know what to do, it's constant. I'm sure she's going to be asthmatic or something.

Anyone have any ideas what this could be causing this many issues?

I'm hoping the doctor will give me some insight when I get the appointment today but I'm just loosing hope x

And to add for any relevance she is allergic to eggs. Not terrible just skin rashes on uncooked or lightly done eggs

As I'm also wondering if this is allergy related

Hey! I know this was a year ago and no responses but is your little girl any better? My little boy is exactly the same, he also has suspected egg allergy! So similar because we’ve been up the hospital countless amount of times being told viral, he’s had oxygen as well because his levels have been too low but nothing we can do! His breathing always seems to be fast even when he’s not poorly! Just searched his symptoms and this post popped up! Please tell me it gets better 😩!

I don't have any solutions just complete sympathy!
My DD2 was the exact same from about 6 months to around 2 it was constant and absolutely terrifying when her breathing went bad, the cough made my anxiety so bad. I to was worried she was asthmatic and nursery felt the same as she was by far the worst for getting poorly than all the other babies but doctors would just always say it was viral and keep giving calpol!
Thankfully she is now 2.5 and although she obviously still gets colds they don't seem to floor her like they used to (I'm sure I will be jinxing myself by saying this). I would just say hold on in there and within time things should get better and illnesses less frequent.
My DD1 although she did get poorly it was never half as bad as DD2 so I do just think some children struggle more than others with how their bodies react.
Sending you love though it's awful seeing your LO so poorly and feeling so helpless!

@Mered12
I didn't realise this post was a year ago 🙈 but my post may help you feel better. It definitely got better for my LG.
