Type 1 diabetes in 2 y/o? Advice & reassurance please

Just wondering if anyone could give me some help/reassurance that it's probably not the case 😔

The last couple of days my 2 year old (3 in January) has seemed to be drinking loads more than usual, constantly asking for juice (all he drinks 🙄) and finishing the whole bottle then wanting more.

He also has been leaking through his nappy a lot at night for the past year I'd say, but he's always been a little tiddler and I just assumed it could be normal from what I've read and now I just double up his nappies at night time and he's fine. He's always weed a lot but I've never been concerned until today.

I looked up about toddlers drinking more than usual and every single thing says it's probably type 1 diabetes 😭 now I'm a wreck with worry as I already have health anxiety around him and get very stressed out when he's even just ill with a cold.

I tried to book an appointment just now with my gp to get his wee checked and whatever else they do, but of course they're closed so I'll have to wait until tomorrow 🙁

Is this normal toddler behavior, randomly drinking loads? It's only been the past couple of days but like I said he's always weed a lot. He's not potty trained yet.

He doesn't show symptoms of extreme tiredness, only if he's had a busy day or he's unwell but most of the time he's full of beans on the go constantly all day!

The health visitor weighed him the other week when she visited and he's a healthy weight, he's a small boy anyway but she said he's perfectly healthy just on the shorter side (like his half sister who's a tiny 6 year old)

Any advice, reassurance and stories are welcome 😢

Try to catch a specimen of urine and take it to the surgery to be checked for sugar. If your little one is unwell at all diagnosis is urgent to a& E or urgent care. If well you should be able to collect a urine specimen, it might mean a few hours of running around after your toddler with a sterile potty!
