Umbilical granuloma in older children?

Has anyone's DC ever been diagnosed with an umbilical granuloma when they were older, rather than as a baby? GP thinks 10 year old DD may have one that was missed as an infant and said it may need cauterising. I was wondering if anyone had experience of the process.
