6 year old DD body hair and BO - WTAF

My DD turned six in June. While getting her ready for her bed tonight, I noticed that she has fine black hairs all over her legs, which weren’t there before.

I also noticed during the summer that she was a bit whiffy a few times but I put it down to the very hot weather. But I had a surreptitious sniff and noticed it again today.

What on Earth is going on? Could she possibly be going through early puberty?!

I mean, I know I have to seek the opinion of someone who’s medically qualified if I’m seriously worried but would appreciate knowing if any other mums have e experience with this.

Agree hopefully just premature adrenarche, but at that age you need to see the GP.

My dd had this, beginning age 6. It was premature adrenarche - she had some blood tests at the doctor, then was under supervision of the paediatric unit at our local hospital, until she reached the "normal" age for puberty (I think around 9 years old).

She was (and is) ok and didn't need any medication, but they just needed to check that she wasn't reaching puberty too early.

My DD had this. Hairy legs at that age is normal. BO less so but it does happen. I got DD a kids deodorant. She's now 10 and not started periods nor any more body hair. Good to get it checked but I wouldn't worry too much unless you see other obvious signs of puberty.

Thanks, that’s all helpful. She’s had a sort of fine, downy, blonde hair on her legs (she’s quite fair haired) but there now seem to be some little proper black hairs, if that makes any sense.
