I'm currently in a children's emergency department with my 1 month old baby who has a rash all over her body. They checked her blood and urine and all is fine, but they want us to stay in for a couple of hours to observe her. I asked what kind of things they want to observe - they said feeding, irritability, heartrate etc. Well, an hour and a half had passed and no one has come to do any observations, which seems odd as she was only supposed to be here a couple of hours anyway. Should I nudge them?

That does unfortunately sound quite normal. I once had to go in immediately with a few day old baby the midwife made me feel like it was extremely serious. Hospital didn’t do anything for over 6 hours.

Go to the desk and ask or you’ll be stuck in over night for no reason or treatment will be delayed
